About EIDF compute & storage

Based at the University of Edinburgh and delivered by EPCC, EIDF builds on over 30 years of expertise running national high-performance computing services. We manage the full stack - hardware, software and service delivery - for industry, the public sector and academia.

EIDF is a secure, scalable private research cloud: a virtual lab for experimentation and data-intensive research. Similar in concept to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, it provides flexible access to advanced compute and storage without the need to buy or manage your own hardware.

EIDF services follow standard security practices and are covered by EPCC’s ISO 9001 accreditation for service quality and ISO 27001 accreditation for information security management.
