Share your research data more widely through EIDF’s free data publishing service. EIDF supports the publication of open research datasets through a searchable Data Catalogue, helping make data easier to discover, access, cite, and reuse. The service is available free of charge for open datasets with appropriate documentation and metadata. For University of Edinburgh users, data publishing can also include the option of a DOI, helping to support citation, visibility, and recognition of research outputs. About data publishing with EIDF EIDF, operated by EPCC, is committed to making data accessible for research in the public good. Through the EIDF data publishing service, open datasets can be hosted and made available via the EIDF Data Catalogue, a searchable platform based on CKAN. This helps researchers present their datasets clearly, improve discoverability, and make them available for wider use. To start the process, users apply for a project through the EIDF Portal. Once approved, the dataset can be prepared for publication and listed in the catalogue with associated metadata. Open datasets are made available publicly through EIDF storage and catalogue services. What do we offer? EIDF’s data publishing service provides:free publication of open datasetsinclusion in the EIDF Data Cataloguesupport for dataset visibility and discoverabilitymetadata-driven presentation of datasetsversioning support for published datapublic access to open datasets hosted through EIDFfor University of Edinburgh users, the opportunity to obtain a DOIIf you are outside the University of Edinburgh and would like to publish an open dataset with a DOI, please get in touch. We may still be able to support publication through the EIDF catalogue, provided the dataset is open and has good-quality metadata associated with it. What makes a dataset suitable? To make best use of the service, datasets should be:open and freely available for reusewell described with clear metadataappropriately documentedsuitable for public sharing through the catalogueThe service is intended for data publishing, rather than long-term archival preservation, so users should ensure they retain backup copies of their data outside EIDF. Publish your dataset with EIDF If you have an open dataset that could benefit the wider research community, EIDF can help you publish it in a way that improves discoverability, accessibility, and reuse. If you are outside the University of Edinburgh and would like to discuss DOI support or catalogue publication get in touch.
