EIDF provides a dedicated low-power sensor network - an Internet-of-Things - across the whole of South East Scotland to support regional research, innovation and learning. Hundreds of gateways and thousands of environmental sensors provide high resolution, real-time measurement of the weather, air quality and biodiversity coverage.

Our IoT programme supports education, research, innovation and adoption projects for academia, business and local government. We offer technical consultancy services for users interested in making use of the region-wide sensor network, and the datasets we capture are stored and available from within the Edinburgh International Data Facility.

We are continuously developing and adding new types of sensors to the network and support an ever broadening range of applications from sustainable Tourism to Healthcare.  We are specialists in the development of edge of network intelligence.
